CRESTWOOD HOUSE
(2016)

Design, Interiors, Construction
Crestwood House is a full remodel of a 1960s four-bedroom home in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains near Salt Lake City. The house had only ever known one family, and while it retained the modest clarity of its mid-century origins, the interior was dim, divided, and disconnected from the sweeping views to the west—across the Salt Lake Valley to the Oquirrh Mountains beyond.
Locus Studio reimagined the structure from the studs up, transforming it into a bright, open home designed for a young family. The program places the main living areas and primary suite on the upper level, enabling single-level living for the owners, with three additional bedrooms, flexible public space, and all services below—opening directly to a private pool, deck, and green spaces in the rear yard.
A new garage volume was introduced in the front yard to define and protect the main entrance. A reduced, durable palette—corrugated steel, oak, cedar, concrete, and marble—brings quiet consistency throughout the home. New fenestration was carefully placed to draw in light and frame private western views, allowing the interior to breathe with space and sun.
